A top of the table clash which sees South normanton named as Mens Division 2 Champions. South normanton B had enough strength in depth to defeat a very good Venturers side. Good luck to both teams in Division 1 next season. Comment: Paul Holmes |

Notts Northern were away to South Normanton B chasing an unlikely victory, given the 7-2 thumping at home and fielding only 2 pairs. Captain Peter Askew set out the plan, Alan Backhand Smash Giles and Ian Creaking Jordan would have to take 3 rubbers and Pistol Pete Askew and Kris super stretch Heeramun would need to take 2. The plan worked well with Giles and Jordan taking the first rubber comfortably and defeating Barry Amphett and Simon Cattermole in a close 3 ender. Askew and Heeramun won the 1st rubber in another close 3 ender then lost in 2 to Sam Murphy and King Lau. Giles and Jordan then defeated Mark Gee and Oliver Ward to leave the tie 4-4 and setup the decider. Captain Peter Askew finally raised his game and aided by Super Stretch Heeramun took the rubber in 2 creating pandemonium in the stands. (our ladies team were there too). South Normanton were gracious in the 1st defeat of the season and we wish them luck in division 1. As for Northern, well have to sit it out in division 2 for one more season. Comment: Peter Askew |
